HIP OSTEOARTHRITIS
Milton Keynes Pain Clinic
Osteoarthritis of the hip is a degenerative joint condition that gradually wears down the protective cartilage within the hip joint. As the cartilage deteriorates, friction between the bones increases, leading to pain, stiffness, swelling, and reduced mobility. While most common in older adults, hip osteoarthritis can also develop earlier in life due to joint injuries, repetitive overuse, or underlying structural abnormalities.
Symptoms
- Pain in the groin, buttock, outer thigh, or knee
- Morning stiffness that improves with movement
- Pain that worsens with prolonged standing, walking, or climbing stairs
- Reduced range of motion in the hip
- Clicking or grinding sensations
- Difficulty performing daily tasks such as putting on shoes or getting out of a car
Treatments We Offer
Ultrasound-Guided Injections for Hip Osteoarthritis
When conservative treatments fail to provide relief, ultrasound-guided cortisone or hyaluronic acid (HA) injections can be highly effective. Using real-time imaging, these injections deliver medication precisely into the hip joint. Cortisone works to reduce inflammation and pain, while hyaluronic acid enhances joint lubrication, improves shock absorption, and supports smoother mobility. Combined, these treatments can ease discomfort, restore function, and improve overall quality of life.
Treatments we offer
Targeted Ultrasound Guided Cortisone Injection (£275)
Cortisone injections reduce inflammation and pain in conditions like arthritis or joint injuries.
Hydrodilatation (£550)
Hydrodilatation involves injecting a high-volume saline solution with or without cortisone, into the shoulder joint to expand the joint capsule, providing relief for frozen shoulder.
Shoulder Barbotage (£550)
Shoulder Barbotage is a specialized procedure for treating calcific tendonitis. It involves breaking down and removing calcium deposits in the shoulder tendons.
